Coming from the premier developer of shoot em' ups at Cave, Espgaluda is a frantic but deeply rewarding shmup which also happens to be the developers easiest and most accessible vertically orientated title.
Excellent colourful graphics and a suitably "pumped up glowsticks at the ready" soundtrack combine with Cave's usual play mechanics (albeit suitably tweaked to include a bullet slowing special move which is vital to the scoring scheme) to provide a fantastic experience which is sometimes overlooked by shmup fans in favour of Cave's more "hardcore" titles such as DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou and Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tach.
This is without a doubt my number one Cave title and is probably my favourite shoot em' up of all time behind Treasure's iconic Ikaruga.
